The previous application for a large tarmac carpark extension was withdrawn following discussions.

The new application is a more modest part gravel and part "green crete" i.e. with grass growing through the blocks. We have suggested that there should be no gravel but all with a grass finish.

We should like to work with the land owners to landscape in a natural way the whole of the areas from Downside bridge to the existing car park for the enjoyment of all. We believe the extension more environmentally friendly would be an acceptable part of such a wider development thus returning what should be an attractive part of the riverbank to the road for the enjoyment of the community

The area is green belt in the conservation area and people may wish to take their own view. Closing date 13th May 2008 so comments to Elmbridge as soon as possible.

The application may be inspected at the Town Planning Division, Elmbridge Borough Council, at the Civic Centre in Esher or via the Elmbridge Planning website.  If there are more than ten written objections, residents have the right to address the relevant Planning Sub-Committee concerning the planning application.
