Skilton's Yard - Planning Objection
Planning Application Ref:
2007/2834

Since the last application in March 2007, CCHT have worked with the applicants and their agents to suggest improvements to the overall design that we believe would be to the benefit of Cobham and its residents longer term.

We believe that it is now almost inevitable that this site will be redeveloped for residential use and we do not object to this in principle. However, whilst the applicants have made substantial improvements to their original plans and now crucially propose to retain the core building intact we retain the view that the application is not yet right and thus we urge you to also object on the following grounds.

1. The proposed changes will damage the amenity of the Conservation Area

2. The accommodation is too dense for such a restricted area - Six 2 bed apartments of this style in this space is simply too much

3. Insufficient parking is provided. Four car parking spaces in an area with no public transport sufficiently close, with no other on or off street car parking available simply won't work and breaches the Elmbridge parking standards.

4. Loss of amenity - light and privacy - as a result of the new build component to Millwater Cottage and Home Yard Cottages

5. Road safety and traffic concerns - access to the site from Stoke Road is difficult and the building volume of traffic on Stoke Road should not be overlooked

It is vital that everyone in Cobham who would feel strongly about this redevelopment writes immediately to the Planning Department, Elmbridge Borough Council, Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey KT10 9SD or email tplan@elmbridge.gov.uk quoting the Planning Application reference above.

OBJECTIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY  NO LATER THAN MONDAY, 19th NOVEMBER but please act now.  If there is more than one adult member of your household you should object separately with your own views – this will help maximise the number of objections we are able to register.

We need your help so please don’t leave it to others and if you have already objected please pass this to a friend.
