Skilton's Yard - Planning Application Letter to CCHT Members Dear Member, Skilton’s Yard – Home Yard, Mill Road - Planning Application 2008/2616 We have been working with the developer over the last several months to try to help shape an application which could be acceptable to us all. However, whilst the application is an improvement on previous applications it remains deficient in a number of key aspects and we are thus asking you all to lodge objections with Elmbridge as quickly as possible. Objections are due with Elmbridge in early December but so long as your objection is with them by the end of December it will be taken into account during the planning process. As ever, its critical that we register as many objections as possible. We need to continue to demonstrate the strength of feeling in Cobham that any proposed development of this site needs to be cognisant of the Conseration Area in which it sits. In summary the following factors are felt to be the important factors upon which objections can be raised : 1. the overall built mass of the development remains overly cramped on the site. 2. there is a significant detrimental impact on the Conservation Area and the loss of views into and out of the Conservation Area remains unacceptable. 3. whilst the important fenestration of Skilton's Yard is now retained it will be completely obscured by the proposed new build in the yard. 4. the impact on the neighbouring properties in Home Yard cottages - loss of light, views remains unacceptable. 5. the impact of increased car parking capacity has not been thought through. 6. the design does not appropriately respect the historical features of the building. Please take the time to register your objection with Elmbridge by writing to the Planning Department, Elmbridge Borough Council, Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey KT10 9SD or email tplan@elmbridge.gov.uk quoting the Planning Application reference above together with your name and address. Objections should be submitted by FRIDAY, 5th DEC 2008, although we understand objections arriving after this date will also be accepted due to the delay in notifying some interested parties. Many thanks for your support in retaining Skilton's Yard. Andi McCann
