RSS News Feeds - Step by Step Guide

The Cobham Conservation & Heritage Trust website has an RSS News feed available. This enables your computer to make you aware automatically when we update the website. Many websites offer RSS and they can be identified by the orange RSS icon RSS Icon

To make use of this facility you need a News Reader. There are a number of programs available but if you use Windows and already use Internet Explorer 7 for web browsing, the feed reader is already built in.

There are other readers available some of which are shown in the box on the right. Different news readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer.

As an example here are the steps you need to follow to subscribe to the Cobham Heritage RSS News feed if you use Internet Explorer 7.

To subscribe to the RSS feed click on the icon Subscribe to the News Feed.

The browser will then display a list of news items, for example:-

Example RSS Subscribe pageTo receive future News Items click on the Subscribe to this feed and click on the Subscribe button. This will add the news feed to your list.

Once subscribed you computer will automatically check to see if there are any new News Items and list them.

To view the News Items just click on the Favourites star , the Feeds button and then the Cobham Conservation and Heritage Trust News Feed.

This will display the available News Items. If you would like to read the full details just click on the heading of the item and the full page will be displayed.

If you subsequently decide you no longer wish to subscribe to the News Feed, you can delete it by right clicking on the News Feed list and select Delete from the popup menu.
