Visit Cobham Heritage Day on Sat 10 Sept 2016

Heritage Day 2016 leafletHeritage Day is a family fun day which is free to enter and occupies Cobham Church Street, St Andrew's Church and Church Yard, Church Gate House Gardens and the Leg O'Mutton Field.

There are over 90 varied stalls and attractions. The stalls give the public an opportunity to meet local charities, crafts and small businesses throughout the day and to discover interesting organisations and unusual items to buy. Some of the stalls offer delicious things to eat and drink, while others have games and children's items to buy.

We also have free entertainment and attractions throughout the day. These include the popular Stilt Walkers, Maypole Dancing, Birds of Prey demonstration, Shetland Ponys, Juggling and Circus Skills, Punch & Judy, the Cobham Band and a live Jazz Band. Also, for a small charge there are the Open Gardens and classic Bus rides.

Two other major attractions on the Leg O'Mutton field are the Cobham Garden Club Autumn Show (1:30pm - 4pm) and the ever popular Classic & Vintage Car Gathering.

Are you an enthusiastic Gardener or Homecraft/Handicrafter? Why don't you enter one of the Autumn Show classes, there are special children's classes as well. You can visit the Garden Club website at for more details.

The Cobham Mill is the only working water mill in Surrey and will be open from 1pm to provide demonstrations of how corn was milled using the power of the river Mole.

The main event starts at 11am and concludes with the Cobham Duck Race on the River Mole which is kindly sponsored by Knight Frank Estate Agents. The Duck Race begins at 4pm and 8,000 yellow plastic ducks will be launched at the Cobham Mill weir and the first 28 ducks to reach the finish line at Riverhill opposite the Wildwood Old Bear Pub all receive a prize. The first prize being £250.

All day parking is available for just £1 on the Leg O'Mutton Field.

In the evening at 7:30pm the Cobham Players will again be supporting the day with a performance of Lilies on the Land in the Cobham Village Hall, their winning entry about the Women’s Land Army from last year’s Leatherhead Drama Festival. The programme will also include a selection of songs from different musicals performed by the popular and highly regarded Cobham Show Choir. Tickets are £10 to include a drink and are available from the Cobham Bookshop.
