    • Until recently, Chairman of the Royal Society of Arts during its period of major change.
    • Chairman of the Heart of the City, a charity founded by the late Lord George and funded by the City of London Corporation to increase the impact of corporate social responsibility in London.
    • President Young Epilepsy (formerly the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy-NCYPE-) the charity with the sole aim to support the 112,000 children and young people with epilepsy in the UK.
