The Great British Story: A People's History

The Great British HistoryThere are a number of history related events coming up in June and July which some of our members may be interested in attending.

These events complement the new BBC TWO 8 part series The Great British Story: A People's History.

This 8-part TV series, which started on May 25th at 9.00pm, charts Great Britain and Northern Ireland's remarkable past from the perspective of ordinary people. Presented by historian Michael Wood, it utilizes the extraordinary energy and interest of local communities combined with the incredible resources of local archives, museums, societies and universities up and down the land to tell the story of our history. We understand that part 8 will be shown in July and feature "Winstanley and the Diggers". Our local historian Dr David Taylor will be taking part.
