Planning
Consideration of planning matters is central to the Cobham Conservation and Heritage Trust. The creation of a sustainable planning environment is key to ensuring the future of Cobham, Downside and their surroundings – to ensure we protect the past where appropriate and enhance the overall environment for the future.
Whilst it seems that we often spend our time and effort resisting inappropriate applications we have a desire to be more forward looking and positive in our planning outlook. We want to create an environment whereby developers and residents alike understand the benefits of creating sustainable applications commensurate with the values of Cobham. There are of course many different perspectives which need to be taken into account and we therefore strongly support the development of the Cobham Town Plan as a fundamental means to achieve this.
We strongly believe that the community needs to be involved in planning and therefore we encourage local experts to take the lead within their local communities. The Trust looks to proactively support local residents in enhancing applications and where necessary objecting to applications. Our local volunteers listed below will be happy to help you understand the planning process, ensure that you need to know what you can do, and seek wider support from across Cobham when the terms of an application have broader implications for Cobham as a whole.

To change the planning environment in Cobham we will need your help. There are many applications underway within the planning system, some bigger than others. From time to time seek we will seek your support to object to applications, especially those that have an impact on the wider Cobham community. Look out for our requests for help on these pages.
