Cobham Heritage Day - 12 Sept 2015

Cobham Heritage Day LeafletHeritage Day is a family fun day which is free to enter and occupies Cobham Church Street, St Andrew's Church and Church Yard, Church Gate House Gardens and the Leg O'Mutton Field.

There are over 90 varied stalls and attractions. The stalls give the public an opportunity to meet local charities, crafts and small businesses throughout the day and to discover interesting organisations and unusual items to buy. Some of the stalls offer delicious things to eat and drink, while others have games and children's items to buy.

We also have free entertainment and attractions throughout the day. These include the popular Stilt Walkers, Maypole Dancing, Birds of Prey demonstration, Shetland Ponys, Juggling and Circus Skills, Punch & Judy and a live Jazz Band. Also, for a small charge there are the Open Gardens and classic Bus rides.

Two other major attractions on the Leg O'Mutton field are the Cobham Garden Club Autumn Show (2pm - 4:30pm) and the ever popular Classic & Vintage Car Gathering.

Are you an enthusiatic Gardener or Homecraft/Handicrafter? Why don't you enter one of the Autumn Show classes, there are special children's classes as well. You can download the schedule here or visit the Garden Club website at www.cobhamgardenclub.com for more details.

If you have a classic or vintage car you can join the Classic/Vintage Car Gathering. Click here for more details.

The main event starts at 11am and concludes with the Cobham Duck Race on the River Mole which is kindly sponsored by Knight Frank Estate Agents. The Duck Race begins at 4pm and 8000 yellow plastic ducks are launched at the Cobham Mill weir and the first 28 ducks to reach the finish line at Riverhill opposite the Wildwood Old Bear Pub all receive a prize. The first prize being £250.

As with previous years, all day parking is available for just 50p on the Leg O'Mutton Field.

In the evening at 7:30pm we have entertainment celebrating our heritage in music, dance, story-telling and community singing, with performances from local schools, dancers from Susan Roberts Academy and musicians from St Andrew's Church and the Yehudi Menuhin School.

"Massive thank you for all the trouble you go to and the trouble you give the planners etc. If only we had had someone on the watch back in the 60s."
