Riverpath Repairs have Begun (21st May 2012)

Essential repair work has begun on the vital pathway running alongside the river between the old fire station and Cobham Mill.

This path is very uneven and after rain becomes a collection of puddles as can be seen in the photograph. A new all-weather surface will replace the 300 metre stretch of existing worn out pathway. The repair work is part of the CCHT’s ambitious Riverhill Regeneration Project

The hard wearing surface will benefit the community all year round by linking Cobham’s town centre to Stoke D’Abernon, making this indispensable footpath more accessible to all.

Sir Gerald Acher, Chairman of the CCHT said "The new path is instrumental to the success of the Riverhill Project as it is the link between the High Street and The Tilt. People will be able to walk or ride safely in either direction, whatever the weather. Whilst the work may cause some short-term disruption, we hope the new pathway surface will be a huge improvement for a long time to come."

The footpath repair work is expected to take approximately 3 weeks to complete. The map below shows the area affected. The pathway will be closed while the work is carried out and redirections will be in place to take pedestrians across to the other side of the road at Leigh Hill Road and through the alley way to the High Street opposite Church Street.
