The passing of our Monarch, Queen Elizabeth ll
We were all immensely saddened at the recent passing of our Monarch, Queen Elizabeth ll. I wrote, on behalf of all our members to the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey and he responded with a very appreciative note; these emails can be seen below.
To the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey from Gerry Acher
Dear Michael
All of us have been deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty. Whilst we all have our own special memories we, in Cobham, reflect on the lovely day we spent with you as HM The Queen’s representative, and Sarah, at our Jubilee Day last June on the Leg O’Mutton Field and to the letter she sent to the people of Cobham. On behalf of the Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon Community we all send our deepest sympathy and condolences and prayers for King Charles lll and the Royal Family at this time.
We posted a short piece on our website yesterday evening: https://www.cobhamheritage.org.uk/
As ever

Reply from the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey to Gerry Acher
Dear Gerry,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful note. I don’t think that any of us can really believe the news of Her Majesty’s passing. I think it will be several weeks before the impact actually sinks in. I have already said to so many people how blessed we were to be able to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. A weekend of joy and celebration of all that she has done for so many people and organisations not just in this the Country or the Commonwealth, but across the world.
Thank you for all that you did for putting on a wonderful show at Cobham for all of us to enjoy. Thank you for sharing the post from your website, I very much liked the final line!
As ever,
Michael
